Founded in December 1993, by representatives of the civil society, Viva Rio is a Brazilian non-profit organization that develops and implements public policies, aimed at promoting a Culture of Peace and social inclusion. Viva Rio’s programs currently benefit more than 2 million people living in vulnerable areas of Rio de Janeiro. In the past 20 years, the organization has developed activities and projects that became a reference and were multiplied by governments, businesses and other civil society organizations. Viva Rio works four main programatic areas: Health, Education, Human Security, and the Environment.
